Patrick Arnold Shriver Schwarzenegger was born on September 18, 1993, in Santa Monica, California. He is the eldest son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian-born bodybuilder, actor, and former Governor of California, and Maria Shriver, a journalist and author from the Kennedy family. Through his mother, Patrick is the grandnephew of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy .​

Raised in Los Angeles, Patrick grew up alongside his siblings Katherine, Christina, and Christopher, as well as his half-brother Joseph Baena. He attended Brentwood School and later graduated from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business in 2016, earning a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Cinematic Arts .
